Worked in marketing in various Unilever companies and as a Client Services Director
of a major international advertising agency. He took up painting, as a hobby,
only after his retirement.
Since 1993 he attended several art schools in Brussels
(RhoK, Académie Royale, Academie Anderlecht), but, in spite of that, he considers
himself to be a complete autodidact. His work betrays a certain admiration
for impressionist painting.
He feels no affinity whatsoever with abstract art
and aims to produce a figurative and spontaneous ‘impression’ of what he sees
in direct visual contact with his subject – people, still life or landscapes.
His subject matter may be photographic, which he then interprets and modifies
by leaving things out or adding them.
He considers himself as a good Sunday
painter, no more, but certainly no less. Someone who paints because it’s fun
and relaxing, not for being innovative or original.
