José Konings-van Dongen was born in Waspik (The Netherlands)
on 6-9-1951 and moved to Sint-Genesius-Rode in 1985
Her passion for painting started in 2003 when, through a framing
course at the C.C De Meent (Alsemberg), she came in contact
with the making of paintings. Her interest started growing
as well as the longing for a more specific course ! For the first
time she gets into touch with canvas, brush and acrylic paint.
After attending a
course on experimental
painting
techniques with
Janot Michiels
for one year, she
mastered the
basic techniques
and styles and
started developing
her own
unique and typical
style.
With some fellow
students
she founded the
group ap-Art
where they swap
ideas and criticize
each others’
works. In September
they organised their third exhibition.
José’s paintings are abstract.
The choice of colours is the best way to express her feelings.
The marriage of colours and the applying of several layers one
over the other always produce a surprising painting.
Her love for nature often results in an abstracted landscape. But
most of all José wants the visitor to give his own interpretation
of her paintings.
