English Students bake CAIC in Sint-Pieters-Leeuw In the framework
of a European Grundtvig Project which GLTT-CVO is taking part in,
the English students of the Elementary class in Den Top, Sint-Pieters-Leeuw,
had a very special lesson.
GLTT-CVO is involved in a project with
several institutions from 7 other European countries
to find creative ways of dealing with interculturality. The project
is called CAIC (Creative Approaches to Intercultural Competence)
and is pronounced as [cake].
During the English course of Monday
evening in primary school Den Top, student Guido
Devillé, teacher-baker, taught
his fellow students how to bake a fool-proof cake with the back-up
of English teacher Ann De Wilde. The apple cake received a special
Flemish cultural touch by adding apple chips on top.
The new vocabulary
became very concrete and could be tasted during
the break. It must be said: the cake was delicious!
This event is
a perfect start of the kick-off week which takes
place from 11 November. The European guests will receive a full programme
with professional as well as cultural aspects. Brussels and the Pajottenland
will be visited. All participants are active in training and teaching
programmes for adult learners and wish to share their best practice
examples. Across the borders of their countries a lot can be learned
from each other and this should be beneficial both for teachers and
learners.
