Some workers have the advantage of study leave
by taking GLTT-courses. The student her-/himself
must request the document meant for the employer
within 30 days from the beginning of the course.
Such document will no more be granted afterwards.
Absences must be justified by a certificate
within 10 days. The named certificate can only
be granted by a medical doctor or by the employer
and will mention the student's correct name
and the exact absence date or period.

welfare control
Job-seekers attending a course during at least
8 hours per week are exempt from welfare control.
Job-seekers attending a course during less

control but can attend a GLTT course, even if
this course takes place at the very moment they
are called on for control.
ATTENTION:
In that case job-seekers should comply with
the following regulations:
* After attending the course on the day they
are called on for control, they collect an attendance
certificate from the school office.
* The day after, they must present themselves
for the welfare control and hand over the GLTT

Can I choose the
level of the course?
No, you can’t, and this is to your own
advantage. At enrolment you take a placement
test on the basis of which your level is determined.
In this way, you are automatically at the level
that corresponds to your present level of competence.
Top
When can I take
the placement test?
At the moment of enrolment.
Top
Can I choose when
I wish to attend the course?
Yes, you can. From the moment we know your
level we can see which places are still available.
If the course is programmed several times a
week you can choose from the available possibilities.
Top
Can I enrol
electronically (via the web or via e-mail)?
No, you can’t. The department of Education
still requires a handwritten and signed enrolment
form with a photocopy of your identity card.
Moreover, the enrolment needs to be paid for
immediately, and you probably also need to take
a placement test to determine your level, or
to see if you have the required foreknowledge
etc… For these reasons you will need to
come to the school secretariat personally.
Top
Can I make a reservation
for a course?
No, you can’t. First come, first served.
Top
Can I pay with a
payment order or with a credit card?
No, you can’t. A payment order is not
a means of payment. You can pay cash, with a
cheque or with Bancontact/MisterCash, not with
a credit card.
Top
Can I enrol first
and pay afterwards?
No, you can’t. As long as you haven’t
paid you are not enrolled.
Top
Can I enrol
for a course in Rode at campus Halle (and vice
versa)?
Yes, you can.
Top
Can I enrol for
somebody else
Yes, you can, if there is no need for a placement
test (since, obviously, you can’t take
that yourself). In this case, take the person’s
ID-card with you.

Partial or
complete exemption from enrolment fees
People who are totally exempt and the required
certificates
The following groups are totally exempt from
enrolment fees if they can provide the required
certificates.
1) People receiving a minimum income or the
people at their expense
Certificate : Welfare certificate stating
that the person concerned lives on a minimum
income (plus a declaration on his/her honour
about the family situation for the people at
his/her expense if the latter want to benefit
from this exemption)
2) Asylum seekers receiving material help
Certificate : certificate stating that the
person concerned is receiving material help.
Reduced enrolment fee and required certificates
The following groups can benefit from a reduced
enrolment fee (€ 0,25 per planned teaching
period) if they can provide the required certificates
1) People receiving an income via an unemployment
waiting benefit (wachtuitkering) or an unemployment
benefit or people who are at the expense of
the above-mentioned group
Certificate : The GLTT-CVO is waiting for
a government decision. As soon as we know what
certificates are required, we will mention them
on our website
2) Disabled people or people who are at their
expense
The person concerned must possess one of the
following certificates :
* a certificate issued by the proper authorities
and stating a work incapacity of at least 66%
* a certificate entitling to an integration
contribution to disabled people
* a certificate showing that the person is registered
with the Agency for Disabled People(plus a declaration
on his/her honour about the family situation
for the people at his/her expense if the latter
want to benefit from this exemption)
ATTENTION:
The above-mentioned groups benefit from a reduction
or exemption of enrolment fees if they provide
the required certificates at the enrolment
If not, they can hand in the required certificates
until 15 days at the latest after the beginning
of the course. Depending on the case, the difference
with the already collected enrolment fee will
be refunded.
REMARK REFUND :
As the amount must be adapted on the student’s
certificate of enrolment, the student can only
be refunded if, in addition to the required
certificate, he also brings the original certificate
of enrolment.
Top
Can I cancel
my enrolment and do I still get my money back?
The enrolment fee of each module can be reclaimed
until 8 days before the start of the first
class day. Any reimbursement can only be requested
by registered letter addressed to the director
of the GLLT-campus Rode. This letter will always
include the original enroment certificate.
In case of a valid cancellation a cancellation
cost of 5 € per module will be deducted.
Top
How
can I cancel?
By taking your original proof of payment to
the secretariat during opening hours. But from
the moment the school year has started (1 September)
cancellations are no longer possible.
Top
If
I cancel, can somebody else take my place?
No, they can’t. Each enrolment is nominal.
So you can’t give up your place in a course
or your enrolment to someone else (not even
occasionally).
Top
Can enrol after
1 September?
Yes, you can, provided there is still a place
available. The enrolments can also be stopped
early.
Top
Can I still change
classes after enrolment?
Yes, you can, on condition that your teacher
agrees and there is still place in the other
class.
Mind: after 15 October such changes are no
longer possible.
To change classes, please take your original
proof of payment to the Schooloffice during
opening hours.
Top
Can I attend the
course at other times than the ones I have enrolled
for?
No, you can’t. The department of Education
does not allow this. Moreover, you are only
ensured for your presence at GLTT at the times
for which you have enrolled.
Top
How big are the groups
in the courses?
That depends on the size of the classrooms
and can vary from ten to thirty. At higher levels
the groups are mostly smaller.
Top
Which course books do
I need?
You will receive a booklist at your enrolment.
Top
What should I do
to receive a student’s card?
You hand in the copy of your enrolment form
together with a passport photo at the secretariat.
Your student’s card will be ready by your
following class.

Child Benefit
To take advantage of child benefit you should
attend classes for at least 17 hours a week
at the GLTT or elsewhere.
So students attending classes exclusively
at the GLTT must follow at least 18 hours per
week
GLTT-procedure in case of absences of Child
benefit (CB) students
To avoid the reclamation of previously granted
allowances, we draw your attention to the following
commitments :
* Absence of one course day : the GLTT school
office must be informed of this one-day absence
by telephone on the same day.
* CB students under 18, in case of a one-day
absence, must hand in at the GLTT school office
within 7 days following the absence : either
a certificate from the responsible parent stating
the reason for the absence or another official
certificate.
* CB students over 18, in case of a one-day
absence, hand in at the GLTT school office within
7 days following the absence a declaration stating
the reason for the absence or an official certificate.
* For absences of 2 or more course days each
CB student should provide a medical or other
official certificate.
This certificate clearly mentions the CB student’s
name and first name as well as the exact absence
period. This certificate must be provided at
the GLTT school office within 7 days following
the absence.
